Using the Search features

You can search the contact lens database in two ways.

Searching By Name

If you know the name of the lens that you are looking for, then you can select it from the drop down box at the top right of the form that displays the text ‘Show this lens’. The list is sorted alphabetically, so if you click on the down arrow, then start typing in the box when the list appears, you will immediately go to the lenses that start with your typed characters.

Searching By Criteria

Using the panel on the left of the form you can search by any of the criteria that are displayed there. By default the list will display all spherical lenses from all suppliers.

If you wish you can search by available power, either by typing in the Rx or clicking on the down arrow to display a list of all possible powers, which you can then select with a single click.

Note that the results will include lenses that are available +/- 0.50D of the entered Rx, e.g. if you enter a search for a lens with a cyl of -5.50, then a lens with a max cyl of -5.00 will still be included in the result set.

Viewing the Results

All lenses meeting the criteria that you have entered are then displayed in a list below the search panel. You can view further details of each selected lens by clicking on it its details will then be displayed in full on the right hand side.

If you want further details of a specific lens then you can find them by clicking on the ‘Click Here’ hotspot, which will open a new window in your browser and display the manufacturer’s website.

Lenses are displayed in the power ranges that are available within ranges of base curves and diameters, so you may need to scroll down to see all the details of a complicated lens.

When there is more information than can be displayed in the available space, e.g. in the case of a wide range of axes of a toric lens, the full range can be viewed by clicking on the down arrow that appears next to the selected item. The list can then be shrunk back again by clicking on the up arrow that appears at the bottom of the list.
