Registration - Individuals
Why Register?
Basic registration is FREE for all opticians, and anyone else who has a valid professional reason for using the site e.g. practice administrators. Once you have registered and had your details validated, you can:
  • Have access to pack sizes and cost prices (where these are known). Note that cost prices remain hidden until you choose to access them, so that you can continue to search the database when sitting next to your patient;
  • Submit and read short product reviews from your colleagues and peers;
  • Contribute requests for data changes, if and when you find anomalies, and so help to make the database even more comprehensive, useful and accurate;
  • Opt to be notified of product changes by email - so that you will be the first to know of new contact lens developments;
  • (Coming soon) - Search for each major retailer’s ‘own brand’ equivalents.
Please note that due to the sensitive nature of some of the data that we are displaying, we take the process of validating all new registrants very seriously. In the case of registered opticians we will check the professional register; with others who are not registered then we will contact your practice to confirm your contact details.

Because of this it may be up to 72 hours before you are issued with a login name and password.

Registration - Practices and Groups
Incorporate Your Retail Prices


For a small annual fee practices and groups can also be registered. This enables you, the practice manager or owner to register all your employees at once, (the details can be submitted electronically on a simple spreadsheet); as well as being more convenient, this will also allow you to remove staff from the list when they are no longer employed at the practice.

Registering your practice also enables you to incorporate your price formulae on the site. This means that when you look up lens details, not only can you see the cost price for each lens, you can see different retail pricing options for each lens as well. These prices of course are only visible to you and your staff.

Your formulae can be as complicated as you wish, and you can have more than one price for each lens, so for example you might have different prices for patients on a regular aftercare scheme, to the prices you charge patients who just pay for their lenses and aftercare as and when they need them. Pricing can also incorporate ‘bundled prices’ such as value packs - in these cases the solutions will be listed under ‘Additional Products’.

The system will automatically generate a product code for each lens/pack size/price combination, so you can use these within your practice management system when entering an Rx or sale.

This company registration is available for just £100 pa for the first practice, plus £20 pa for each additional practice. So, for example, a group of 5 practices will pay just £180 + VAT pa for this facility

Product Downloads


The www.OpticsData.com contact lens database can be downloaded into your practice management system, complete with your own:
  • Cost Prices
  • Retail prices
  • Product codes (SCU Codes)
  • Product groups
  • Supplier codes

This means that any contact lens that is recorded on the website can be dispensed, priced and ordered 100% accurately.

Lens Validation in your Practice Management System

Depending on which practice management system you are using, the product download can also include lens validation.

This means that as you enter the details of a lens into your practice management system contact lens record, you will only be able to enter a BOZR, diameter, sphere, cyl, axis and add combination, that are valid for your selected lens.

It’s convenient, quick and efficient. It will reduce time taken for your staff to order lenses, it will help reduce costs, and minimise delays caused by incorrect ordering.

Practice Management System

Note: This facility is currently only available for users of the FOCUS practice management system,

If you currently use another system then contact us anyway, and with your permission and with no obligation we will contact your PMS supplier, and investigate whether it is feasible to offer the same service.

The basic cost is £100 plus VAT for a product download, which includes a free ‘follow up’ download at a time of your choice. (For example, if you choose to re-price your lens database having used the product catalogue for 6 months, then this second download will be absolutely free.)

Any additional work, e.g. converting your existing codes and sales history to the new codes will be charged on a time and materials basis, for which an estimate will be provided before any work is undertaken.
